To execute a video production in their NJ aquarium, we brought in our team of experts and professional actors, and captured a variety of footage quickly and efficiently.  From shark tanks to penguin habitats, we dove right in (figuratively speaking) and captured all the family fun on film!

Video Production Challenges Accepted!

Filming in an aquarium presents some challenges that’s for sure! The room is dark, but has pops of light from various sources like the tanks and lit signage. This is where years of experience working with lighting and camera equipment come in…

The glass walls of the tanks also create reflections, so as we film sharks and other fish on the move it’s a challenge to avoid impeding reflections and glare.  The sharks and other fish are often dark in color themselves, while their environments are beautiful shades of green and blue! We want to be able to see the shark without blowing out the beautiful surroundings in the process. Balancing all of these variables is something we think about as we light and film.

The sharks turned out to be great performers, as did our cast!

Flexibility in Video Production

Obviously working with animals means the production crew needs to ensure enough time to try to capture ideal movements and behaviors from the animals.  As smart as sharks are, they are not that good at taking direction.

And while the seals were incredible at following cues from Jenkinson’s animal trainers, it took a little time to capture it just perfectly on camera…

During the pre-production phase, before the film date, we anticipate these aspects of the production and outline a shoot schedule that allows for flexibility.

Video can be edited, re-edited and multi-purposed, maximizing its power to reach a target audience. Footage captured from a well-orchestrated shoot, like this one at Jenkinson’s Aquarium, can be used to craft:
